Meat Shops. Fried Fish, Eel, and other fish Shops, and other places where food is prepared for sale, excluding
Bakehouses which are given above.
‡Registration of Factories is not required by the Factory and Workshop Act, 1901, but most of them were inspected during
1903, and notices served where necessary.
§ Many Inspections of Underground Bakehouses were also made by the Borough Surveyor and the Medical Officer of Health
in connection with the requirements for the Council's Certificate.
There is a very large number of "workplaces other than the above, the registration of which is not required, and many of
them were inspected and notices served where necessary.
