Act, 1891, and not under the nuisance clauses of the act itself. Altogether 610
yards were dealt with, but as a rule only very small works, such as repairs
were effected, and consequently they are certain to become recurring nuisances.

OFFENSIVE TRADES.
These trades, which comprise 3 tripe boilers, 2 gut scrapers, 1 tallow
melter, and 1 knacker's yard, received 109 visits from Inspector Wilkinson,
who reports with respect to them that on the whole they have been well
conducted, but that at times obnoxious smells are perceptible at some little
distance from the knacker's yard. The prevention of the effluvium nuisance
from this establishment is under the careful consideration of the County
Council, whose Licensing Committee have had the matter before them many
times. The intention is to insist that the trade shall be conducted in closed
chambers.
