14.—Water Supply.—Provision shall be made for a supply of water direct from
the main.
15.—Storage.—No articles, unless those essential to carrying on the business
of a baker, shall be kept or stored in the bakehouse or flour room or place
where flour is stored.
16. - Lavatories.—Conveniences for personal ablution shall be provided in a
suitable position outside the bakehouse, and shall include a sink or lavatory
basin of an improved character.
17. —Underground Rooms.—An underground room, not entirely separated from
the bakehouse, shall be well lighted throughout; shall be sufficiently
protected against the entrance of ground air, shall be properly ventilated,
and shall be at all times clean.
Notes as to Materials, etc.
Ceilings.—Granite plaster (i.e., cement mixed with granite chippings ¼-inch
gauge) or parian cement is to be used.
Walls.—Parian cement is to be used. Tiles or glazed bricks may be used around
the ovens
Floors.—Cement concrete 6 inches thick.
Drains.—Iron pipes with caulked lead joints under bakehouse.
Light.—Sufficient to enable the workers to read the " Official Abstract " in any
part of the bakehouse between 11am. and 3 pm. The windows which are
used for ventilation must be hinged at the bottom and boxed in at the sides,
and when placed in areas must be lined with glazed bricks to reflect the light.
Artificial Light.—Electric light or incandescent gas light.
Ventilation.—Permanent inlet and outlets, independent of windows, are to be
provided.
Troughs.—Casters or wheels are to be provided to the troughs and tables.
