MILK.
Inasmuch as milk forms the most important article of
food, the number of samples submitted has been greater in
proportion to any other articles.
During the year 228 samples were secured, 47 or 20.61
per cent. of which were adulterated.
The greater number of offences occurred during the first,
second and third quarters, and I am pleased to record the fact
that the action taken by your Council, and fines inflicted by the
Justices, have, as I predicted, reduced adulteration. This
improvement was most marked during the fourth quarter.
