The death rates on the whole are lower than those of the Metropolitan Asylums Board,
because to quote the words of their circular "in arriving at this figure many cases of recent
admissions have been included because they have been completed by death; whereas the
contemporary cases which will nearly all ultimately recover, cannot be included until completed
by discharge—the result being that the rate of mortality above given is undoubtedly higher than
it will be when all the cases have been completed and the final rate ascertained."
Still, making due allowance for this the death rate in Bermondsey may be considered low,
especially of the vaccinated cases.
