It does not appear to me that any building (whether flats or model
dwellings) can be regarded as being provided with suitable dust receptacles
where this arrangement exists, in fact, they are frequently the subject
of complaint.
Dust shoots have been abolished and in their place proper sanitary moveable receptacles provided, in the following instances:—

Flooding by Storm Water.
An abnormal fall of rain occurred on the 25th July, of which
"Symons Meteoroligical Magazinefor August gives the following
particulars:—
"Registered at Burrard Road, West Hampstead, 2.24 inches."
"Registered at Camden Square, 1.7l inches."
At the latter Station, the following details are also supplied:-
Several gentle showers during the forenoon and afternoon of
yesterday yielded 0.20 inches, the thunderstorm from 6.45 to
to 7.30 p.m. brought down 0.99 inches (of which 0.40 fell in
10 minutes), between 9 and 11 p.m. 0.50 inches fell, and a
slight shower some time after midnight brought the total for
the day up to 1.7l inches.
At this time, complaints were received of the flooding of premises
in Bell Terrace, West End Lane, Fleet Road, and Holtham Road.
