The method of sampling adopted is as follows:-
(a) 500 ordinary samples, including milk;
(b) 100 extra samples of milk only;
(c) 40 samples of spirits (gin, rum, brandy, whisky).
As will be seen by the above table, the 500 ordinary samples
include milk, butter, cheese, coffee, mustard, pepper, &c. These
samples are taken by each inspector in his own district monthly.
Every salesman of these or similar articles is sampled at some time
during the year.
