The total number of deaths from Tuberculosis in 1905 was
323, as compared with 317 in 1904. The deaths from the
various forms of the disease were as follows:—
Tuberculosis of the Lungs (Consumption) 234
Tuberculosis of the Brain 32
Tuberculosis of the Larynx 3
Abdominal Tuberculosis 19
General Tuberculosis 26
Other forms of Tuberculosis 9
The number of deaths from Phthisis and other Tubercular diseases, and the death-rate per 1,000 in each of the sub-districts is set out in the following table:—

The deaths from Tuberculosis formed 12.6 per cent. of the
total deaths, and the disease caused a greater mortality than
all the "zymotic" diseases, with the exception of diarrhœa,
put together.
Disinfection was carried out in 38 per cent. of the fatal
cases occurring in private houses.
