ANNUAL REPORT
of the
MEDICAL OFFICER OF HEALTH
For 1905.
Section I.—STATISTICAL.
POPULATION OF CHELSEA.
The census population of the Borough of Chelsea for the year
1901 was 73,842.
The estimated population of the Borough for 1905 is 74,496; the
population of each sub-district being as follows:—
Chelsea North 42,890
Chelsea South 31,535
There is to be no quinquennial census of London this year, 1906,
as was taken in 1896; consequently in boroughs where changes are
taking place owing to building on unoccupied land, to demolitions and
rebuilding, or to migratory movements of population, estimates of
population between now and the next decennial census in 1911 are
likely to be erroneous, and but little reliance can be placed on the
calculated rates of mortality, etc.
