Diarrhœa.—The deaths in Chelsea in 1904 from diarrhœal diseases
(diarrhoea, dysentery, cholera, enteritis, and gastro-enteritis) were 64 in
number, as compared with 40 in 1903. Forty-seven of the deaths were
of infants under 1 year of age, and 8 were between 1 and 5 years of
age. Thirty-eight of the deaths were of North Chelsea residents, and
26 were of South Chelsea residents. The summer diarrhoea prevalence
of 1904 was considerably in excess of the prevalences in the two previous
years, 1903 and 1902, which were unusually small owing to the cold
and wet summer seasons of these years.
