The Public Health Committee, when considering this series
of cases, thought that the rules governing the procedure of midwives
required amendment in certain particulars, and forwarded
their suggestions to the London County Council, who are the
supervising authority in this district, for their further consideration.
Chicken-pox. The notification of this disease was not in
force during 1905 in Greenwich.
Measles. Seven hundred and sixty-eight cases of this
disease were notified by parents, guardians, school teachers and
others during the year, and in each case visits were paid to the
infected premises, and the usual measures of disinfection generally
carried out.
There were 18 cases of Measles which proved fatal.
The number of actual cases of Measles heard of is some 35
per cent, less than the total number of the previous year, whilst
the number of fatalities is 55 per cent, less, hence it would appear
as if the virulence of the disease during the year had been considerably
less than the previous year.
