BIRTH RATE.
The births registered during the year numbered 4,627, and
were equal to a rate of 35.6 per thousand population at all ages.
This rate is slightly higher than that of the preceding year,
which was 35.3. The general metropolitan rate of 28.5 is
identical with that of the previous year and is the lowest on
record. It is as usual about 7 below our own.
In the registration sub-districts of the Borough the birth rates
were as overleaf; the death rate in each sub-district is also shewn
for purposes of comparison.
