the Borough in various public institutions. There were, therefore, 1131
deaths of parishioners of Chelsea. These 1131 deaths are equivalent
to a death-rate for the year of 15.3 per 1,000, as against a deathrate
of 18.0 per 1,000 in 1902.

The death-rate of Chelsea for 1903 is the lowest yet recorded.
Zymotic Death-rate.—The death-rate in Chelsea from the seven
principal zymotic diseases was l.26 per 1,000 in 1903, the lowest rate
yet recorded, the corresponding rate for London being 1.78. In 1902
the zymotic death-rate in Chelsea was 2.22 per 1,000. The decrease in
1903 is due to the diminished prevalence of all the infectious diseases
with the exception of whooping-cough.
