The following table gives the number of births and the
birth-rates in the various wards.

BIRTHS AND BIRTH-RATE.
The total number of births registered in the borough during
the year was 4,790—2,409 of males and 2,381 of females. This
is equivalent to a birth-rate of 32.5 per 1,000, which is the
lowest as yet recorded in Fulham. The continuous decline in the
birth-rate in Fulham of recent years, which is shared by nearly
every part of the United Kingdom, will be seen on reference
to Table II.
The birth-rate of the County of London was 28.4, being
lower than in any previous year, and in the three adjoining
boroughs the rates were —Kensington, 20.0, Hammersmith, 25.9,
and Chelsea, 20.5.
In the other metropolitan boroughs the rates ranged from
13.8 in the City of London, 16.9 in Westminster, and 17.1 in
Hampstead to 35.9 in Bethnal Green, 37.1 in Finsbury, and 37.6
in Stepney.
