During the past 10 years the deaths and death-rates from
the seven principal Zymotic diseases have been as under: —

The death-rate from the seven principal infectious diseases
in the County of London was 1.8 per 1,000 as compared with a
mean rate in the 10 years 1893 —1902 of 2.6 per 1,000. Among
the various metropolitan boroughs the death-rates from these
diseases ranged from 0.58 in Hampstead, 0.86 in the City of
London, and 0.96 in Lewisham to 2.4 in Stepney, 2.9 in Shoreditch,
and 3.0 in Poplar.
