Births.—During 1903 there were 6,180 births in the Borough of
Hackney, 3,141 males and 3,039 females. This is equivalent to a
birth-rate of 27.6 per 1,000 living persons for the whole Borough.
This shows a decline upon the rate for 1902, which was 28.2 per 1,000
living. The birth-rate was lowest in the North Sub-District, viz.
19.9 per 1,000, and the highest in the South-West Sub-District, viz.
30.9 per 1,000 living persons.
