Gentlemen—I beg to present to you my Annual
Report for last year. The Report will deal with the
vital statistics, and with the Sanitary work carried out
under the direction of your Council during the 52 weeks
ending on January 2nd, of the present year. Owing
to a combination of favourable circumstances the
statistics of the public health of last year are the
most satisfactory on record. This is due to the low
temperature of last summer, the large amount of rain,
and the improved condition of the sanitation and sanitary
administration of the Borough.
The deaths of non.Burgesses have been deducted,
and the deaths of Burgesses occurring in other parts of
London have been added, in accordance with the Local
Government Boards direction. Deaths of persons
occurring in institutions receiving sick and infirm
persons alone have been regarded for the purpose of
correction.
