This power only applies to the following classes of work prescribed
by the Secretary of State.
1. The making, cleaning, washing, altering, ornamenting, finishing,
and repairing of wearing apparel, and any work incidental
thereto;
2. The making, ornamenting, mending, and finishing of lace, and
of lace curtains and nets;
3. Upholstery work, and
4. Fur pulling.
In order to apply these powers a register is kept of all outworkers,
living or working in the borough; this register at present contains the
names of 74 persons, and on receipt of a Certificate relating to Infectious
Disease, reference is made to the Register to see if any outworker is
resident in the house in question.
