One of the cases in the Town Ward occurred in the Hampstead
Workhouse, and 4 in the Belsize Ward were reported from the Northwestern
Fever Hospital.
Puerperal Fever.
Six cases were notified, 4 of which proved fatal, as compared with
5 cases with 4 deaths in 1991. On inspection, sanitary defects were
found to exist in 2 instances. The mortality was 66'6 per cent, of cases
notified.
In all cases the midwives were cautioned, either verbally or by
letter, as to taking further cases.
Of the cases notified 2 were removed to hospital.
