It will be seen that the birth rate for Hackney which is usually
about 2 per 1,000 population below that for London, was not quite
so great this year. The corrected death rate which is ordinarily
2 8 per 1,000 in Hackney below that for London was this year
nearly 4 per 1,000 below it, which is very satisfactory, especially as
the difference is greater than in 1889. The same remark applies to
the deaths of children under 1 year old.
