fatal. Little, however, can be at present calculated from
these figures, in consequence of the comparatively limited
area of observation, beyond general proof of addition to the
term of human existence.
But, if we can arrive at no definite results from the Table
of Weekly Averages, we can at least draw positive conclusions
from the Table of Deaths at stated ages. Here we
find that nearly half of the whole number of deaths takes
place in infancy; though even these figures show favourably
in comparison with 1862. In the latter year 846 children
