VESTRY PROPERTY.
Vestry Hall.— The Vestry Hall and Offices have been
cleaned as usual during the Summer recess, at a cost of
£7 10s. 2d. With a view of facilitating (he work of the
Vestry, the Vestry Hall and Stoneyard have been connected
with a private telephone wire.
The Vestry, at the commencement of the year, received
an application from Mr. J. J. Johnson, Rate and Tax Collector,
for the use of an office in the Yestry Hall for the
receipt of Taxes, and having learnt that he would
only require the office for one afternoon a week, from
1 to 5 o'clock, for six months in the year, granted the
use of the Committee Room for the time and purpose
mentioned, subject to Mr. Johnson paying the sum of £10
a year for the use of the said office. This stipulation was
agreed to.
Sanitary Shelter, 6. Dufour's Place.— This Shelter,
which was established by the Vestry a few years ago for
the use of families during the disinfection of their homes,
has been provided with a suitable bath room and requisites.
Dressing gowns have also been obtained for the occupants
for use whilst their own garments are being disinfected.
Disinfector— The new Disinfector, to which reference
was made in last year's Report, was erected in the early
part of the year, aud has been used for disinfecting bedding,
clothing, &c., for parishioners on 122 occasions compared
with 118 in 1895-6 and 111 in 1894-5. During the time
that the apparatus was being erected the disinfecting was
carried out by Mr. Lacey, of Wandsworth.
Mortuary.— The bodies of 29 persons have been received
into the mortuary during the year, as compared with 45
during the previous twelve months.
