were given notice to terminate their engagements, and
Mr. Folland, Sanitary Inspector, was the only one reappointed.
Public Health Department.—In considering the action
necessary to be taken on the above resolution the Vestry
decided that the Medical Officer of Health and Sanitary
Inspectors should in future be appointed under the Public
Health (London) Act, 1891, whereby the appointments are
subject to the approval of the Local Government Board and
one-half of the remuneration of such officers is paid by the
London County Council.
Accordingly Dr. Edmunds, Medical Officer of Health,
and Mr. J. P. Folland, Sanitary Inspector, who were
originally appointed under the Metropolis Local Management
Acts and the old Nuisances Removal Act, were reappointed
under the Public Health (London) Act, 1891, at
the same remuneration as they were then receiving, subject
to each of the officers giving an undertaking not to own or
be interested in any house property in the Parish, or act as
Collector of Rents or Agent in respect of any other property
in the Parish.
The vacancy created by Mr. Watson leaving the Vestry's
service was filled up, with the approval of the Local Government
Board, by the appointment of Mr. T. W. Calverley at
a commencing salary of £120, rising by annual increments
of £5 to £l50, with uniform, on condition that he lives in
the Parish, and subject to the condition relating to house
property mentioned above.
St. James's Dwellings.—Mr. C. Slader, and his wife,
have been appointed Caretakers of St. James's Dwellings, in
place of Mr. J. Flint and wife, at wages of 23s. per week
(with rooms and gas free), subject to the conditions relating
to house property before mentioned.
