MIASMATIC ORDER.
1.—Small-Pox (decennial average, 0.7 per 1,000).
It is satisfactory to note the absence of small-pox from
the district throughout the year. No case has been
reported since August, 1895.
The 9 fatal cases of small-pox registered in London
last year showed a farther decline from the number
recorded in the three preceding years.
During the year under notice 236 cases of small-pox
were admitted into the Metropolitan Asylums Board
Hospitals.
It will be convenient to insert here the following
extracts from the Report of the Royal Commission on
Vaccination.
Vaccination.
In May, 1889, a Royal Commission was appointed to
inquire into the subject of Vaccination.
During the seven years the Commission has lasted
136 meetings were held, 187 witnesses examined, and
important investigations were conducted for their
assistance.
The final report of the Commission was presented to
both Houses of Parliament on 13th of August last.
The various questions submitted to the Commissioners
are set forth under the headings A, B, C, D, and E.
The conclusions and suggestions arrived at by the
Commissioners are shown in the numbered paragraphs
from the Report.
