Limewhiting Courts.
The walls at the entrances to the following yards,
courts, mews, &c., in the District, were twice cleansed and
limewhited during the year, at a cost of £43 5s.

New Oxford Street.
The enlargement of this convenience, which was found
necessary almost immediately after the opening of the
original structure, in consequence of the large demand for
accommodation, was completed by the Contractors and
opened to the public use on the 10th day of July, 1896.
Shaftesbury Avenue.
The question of the retention of a water closet for
men and women in this convenience, as well as in that in
New Oxford Street, free of charge, was again under the
consideration of the Board, who finally resolved to discontinue
allowing the free use of the same in consequence
of the abuse and ill-usage to which they were put,
and they were accordingly closed to free use on the 27th
day of January, 1896.
