The Work of the Year.
This report contains a summary of the more important
proceedings of the Board. It would be quite
impossible in the space at disposal to enumerate the
whole of the work and the many important matters of
detail which are continually brought before the Board and
its Committees.
Mr. Willoughby has continued to act as Chairman of
the Board, having at the meeting on the 9th day of June,
1896, been unanimously re-elected to that important
position.
Changes in the Personnel of the Board.
Considerable changes have taken place in the membership
of the Board during the year under review. At the
election of members in June, 1896, Messrs. Maurice Angel,
Edward J. Coleman, Joshua H. Gudgeon, Kichard J.
Harnell, John Milner, Edward Upton, and Philip Yallentine
were elected in the place of Messrs. William Henry Fenton,
Edward Lawrence Jones, John Martindale, John Horsley
Mayo, Gilbert Smith, Charles James "Wainwright and
John "Waters.
Three vacancies have occurred during the year, two of
which were caused by the resignation of James F. Corben,
Esq., and Thomas H. D. Berridge, Esq., the other by the
death of Walter Blott, Esq. All these gentlemen had
been for many years members of the Board and its various
Committees. Mr. Blott at the time of his death was
Chairman of the Works Committee.
