In 1892 there were 188 such deaths and in 1893, 168 deaths.
Sex Mortality.
Of the total deaths in the Arsenal Registration SubDistrict
there were 230 males and 213 females, in the Dockyard
Registration Sub-District 168 males and 158 females, or in other words,
of the 769 total deaths in the whole district 398 were of males and 371
of females. 151 deaths were of persons over 60 years of age.
Births &
Birth Rate.
The number of births registered during the year were
1265. Of these 12 were recorded as illegitimate.
The birth rate is therefore 30.5
For the past five years the birth rate has been as follows:

1891 32.7
1892 29.9
1893 31.3
1894 30.5
Marriages.
There have been 585 marriages registered during the
year, 120 in the first quarter, 136 in the second, 151 in the third and
178 in the fourth.
Inquests &
Suicides.
There have been 77 Inquests during the year. There
have been 9 Suicides as follows:—Cut throat 2, Hanging 2,
Poison 2, Shooting 1, and Drowning 1.
Mortuary.
64 bodies were received into the Mortuary, of which 48
were of persons resident in the district and 16 non-resident.

During the year 327 cases of Infectious disease have been notified as follows:-
