DUSTING AND SCAVENGING.
In the Parish of Clapham, the number of loads of dust
removed during the year was 7,360; the total cost of
collection and disposal has been £3,436 4s. 2d. or about
9s. 4d. per load. The additional cost of collection is
chiefly attributable to the increase in horse hire, viz.:
from 8s. per day paid during the previous three years to
10s. 6d. per day paid during the past year for horse and
driver. The following is the expenditure for dusting

The scavenging work is performed by men employed
by the Board and by hired carts, but during the last
month the Board's horses and vans have also been
employed; 10,056 one-horse cart loads have been cleared
from the roads and 2,167 cart loads from gullies. The
