Medical Officers of Health Annual Report.
The above 175 deaths have therefore to be added, giving a
further corrected total of 792, which may be taken as the true death
roll of the sub-district. The doath-rate calculated from this would
be 14-93, while in 1893 this coripcted death-rate was 18-43, a difference
of 3-50 per 1,000. This represents a saving of 185 lives, as to
make the death-rate of 1894 equal to that of 1893, that number
would require to be added.
Table III. gives the statistics of mortality in the sub-district for
the year. It is arranged according to the classification of the
Registrar-General, and shows the number, causes of death, age, sex
and social position of the deceased.
Tables A and B which follow are inserted by direction of the
Local Government Board.
