It is satisfactory to find the zymotic death-rate very much
diminished in comparison with the preceding two years.
28 deaths from zymotic diseases were registered, giving a
zymotic death-rate of 14. During 1893 it was nearly
double. The difference is accounted for by the great
diminution in the mortality from diphtheria and whooping
cough.
