Cholera—It was not thought necessary to add anything
to the precautionary steps that had been taken in 1893
to prepare for the possible advent of cholera.
The London County Council again arranged with Dr.
Klein to make bacteriological investigations into any
suspected case, and this was taken advantage of in one
instance, the result being found to be "negative." The
Local Government Board issued a circular in July
drawing attention to the fact that cholera was often preceded
by diarrhoea excessive in amount, and stating that
they would be prepared to consider favourably any
application to add diarrhoea to the list of notifiable
diseases till the end of the then current quarter.
