conference adopted a resolution in favour of an extension
of the definition of the word "drain" in the Metropolis
Management Acts, and decided to present a memorial to
the London County Council asking the Council to insert
in one of its Bills for the amendment of* those Acts a provision
carrying into effect the suggested extended definition.
This memorial is now under the consideration of
the Council.
Death of a
Member and
Officers.
The Board regret to have to record the death
of Mr. S. F. Sloper, one of the Members for
the parish of Wandsworth; also of Dr. G. E. Nicholas,
after the long service of 38 years as Medical Officer of
Health for Wandsworth, his appointment dating from the
establishment of the Board in January, 1856, by the
Metropolis Local Management Act, 1855; and of Mr. G.
Phimister, who had been engaged as a Sanitary Inspector
for Streatham for 13 years.
