ON THE SANITARY CONDITION OF
Its bounds as at Edmonton, Poland Street, the Central
London Sick Asylum,&c. The Middle Temple now being
a sanitary district, I have deducted the population from
that part of it which is in the Registration Sub-District
of St. Clement.
The total number of Births registered in the
District (inclusive of 8 in Poland Street Workhouse
and 1 in Edmonton Workhouse) was 556, giving a
rate of 22.40 per 1,000 inhabitants, as against 24.05 in
1894, 23.13 in 1892, and 24.5 in 1891. The birth-rate
in London for 1894 was 0.8 below that of the two
previous years, viz.:—30.1 per 1,000.
