From the above table it will be seen that women were afflicted with cancer to a
greater extent than men, in the proportion of more than 3 to 2. Uterine cancer alone
caused 15 deaths; if these be excluded, the numbers of males and females afflicted
with this disease shew only a slight preponderance on the part of the latter.
ZYMOTIC DISEASES.
It is very satisfactory to report that there has been a great diminution in the
number of cases of infectious disease notified, there being 1104* as against 1987 last
year.
The cases notified during the years 1800-93, inclusive, are as follows :—
