Special Attention was given to Public House Urinals.
Special Attention was given to Blocks of Dwellings (soil, sink and
water pipes) during the great frost in the early part of 1895.
Sanitary Work—The period comprised in this report is from
Lady-day, 1894, to Lady-day, 1895, and a summary of work done
will be found in Table 13.
The work chiefly consisted in providing new drains to houses,
water supply and apparatus to closets; new dustbins; removing
nuisances caused by accumulations of manure, trade refuse, and
animals ill-accommodated; disinfection of rooms, clothing, and
bedding; attending at Police Court; the condemning of unwholesome
food; and various other matters.
Streets and blocks of houses have been inspected in the following
places, viz:—Tiverton, Villa, Alvey and Trafalgar Streets; Arcadia
Buildings and Grosvenor Terrace; Brandon, East, Sayer, Lion,
Flint, Barlow and Catesby Streets; South, Brook, Rockingham,
Cambridge and Ayliffe Streets; Ewhurst Court, Longville, Holyoak
and Delverton Roads, Newington Crescent, Harmer's Buildings,
Ayliffe Street, Circular Road and Union Square; Ralph, Peacock,
Hodson, Sondes, Deacon, Bedford and Penrose Streets; Hurlbutt
Place, Salisbury Row, Lucas Road and Chapter Terrace; Larcom,
Chatham, Otto, Cole and Great Bland Streets; Chatham Row,
Walworth Road and Manor Place; Great Dover, Tabard, Portland
and Turquand Streets; Westmoreland Road, Colworth Grove,
Walcorde Avenue, Innis Place, Ethel, New and Morrow Streets;
Lorrimore, Lower Bland, Ripley, Bagshot, Kinglake and Steedman
Streets; Royal Terrace, Kettle Place, Warren and Violet Place,
Churchyard Row, Goode's Court and Grosvenor Terrace; Penton
