The following are the ages at death:—616 persons died under tho
ago of 1 year, 360 from 1 to 5 years, 508 from 5 to 60 years, 157
from 60 to 70 years, 109 from 70 to 80 years, 43 from 80 to 90
years, and 6 from 90 years and upwards.
Causes of Death.—There has been an increase in the number
of fatal cases of Measles and Enteric Fever, and a diminution in
those of Small Pox, Scarlet Fever, Whooping Cough, Diphtheria
and Diarrhoea, when compared with tho cases of last year.
1. Measles 103 cases, Scarlet Fever 19, Whooping Cough 75,
Diphtheria 61, Enteric Fover 14, Diarrhoea 53, Syphilis 8,
Erysipelas 2, Puerperal Fever 4, Alcoholism 5, Cancer 59, Tabes
Mesenterica 27, Rheumatic Fever 2, Tubercular Disease of Brain 32,
Phthisis 150, Premature Birth 73, Apoplexy and Brain Softening
80, Inflammation of Brain or Membranes 29, Convulsions 66, Heart
Disease 82, Bronchitis 281, Pneumonia 159, Enteritis 25, Peritonitis
7, Bright's Disease 23, Influenza 12, and Old Age 42.
2. Fractures and Contusions 11, Burns 1, Children accidentally
suffocated in bed 28, otherwise 7.
