REPORT OF THE MEDICAL
OFFICER OF HEALTH AND PUBLIC
ANALYST FOR THE YEAR 1897.
To the Honourable the Commissioners of
Sewers of the City of London.
Gentlemen,
I have the honour to present the
following record of the proceedings of the
Sanitary Staff during the year 1897, with the
usual preliminary statistical information.
AREA.
The City of London Registration District
comprises 672T acres, excluding tidal water
or foreshore.
POPULATION.
The first Imperial Quinquennial Census was
taken in the City of London on the night of
the 29th March, 1896, under the provisions of
the London (Equalization of Rates) Act, 1894,
57 and 58 Vic., Cap 53, Sec. 8.
