SLAUGHTER-HOUSES.
I regret to say 14 Slaughter-houses
remain in High Street, Aldgate. With one
or two exceptions these are ill-adapted for the
business, and require the constant supervision
of the Meat Inspectors to keep them in anything
like a wholesome condition.
It is now twenty years since the Government
of the day permitted these places to
continue and restricted your powers of interference
only when it is sought to create the
business anew.
In every other Metropolitan District the
London County Council has the right to
insist upon the occupiers of Slaughter Houses
obtaining a licence to carry on the trade to
their satisfaction, which is renewed from year
to year so long as the conditions imposed
are duly observed.
The following are our Bye-laws for
regulating the structure of the premises” as
well as for “regulating the conduct of the
business.”
