MARRIAGES.
During the year 1894 there were 495 Marriages in the
Parish of Lewisham, of which 329 were solemnised in the
various Churches, 60 in Dissenting Chapels, and 106 at the
Registrar's Office.
During the same period there were 157 marriages in the
Hamlet of Penge, of which 126 were solemnised in Churches,
18 in Dissenting Chapels, and 10 at the Registrar's Office.
Total 652, as compared with 651 in 1893.
The marriage rate was equal to 13.0 persons married
per 1,000 of estimated population.
In London the proportion of persons married to the
total population was 17.0 per 1,000.
Meteorology.
The mean temperature of the air at Greenwich in 1894
was 49.9.
The highest reading by day, 86.0, was registered in
July, and the lowest reading by night, 12.8, in January.
Rain fell on 192 days. The total amount of rainfall was
26.88 inches.
