201 deaths therefore occurred in the first half of the year, and
222 in the latter half. The deaths included 215 of males and
208 of females. The ages at death were : under one year, 84
(against 45, 71, and 77, in the preceding three years respectively)
: between one and sixty 195 (against 179, 214, and
199, in the preceding three years), and at sixty and upwards,
144 (against 170, 238, and 157, in the preceding three years).

Four inquests were held : verdicts of death from " natural
causes " were returned in three of the cases, and a verdict
of death from heart disease in the fourth case.
