The figures in the above Table have been compiled from the Quarterly Returns of the Asylums Board. In addition to the cases in the Table, 7 cases of
typhus were admitted, 2 from Wandsworth and Clapham ; and one each from the City, Fulham, Mile End Old Town, St. Marylebone and Stepney.
At the close of the year there were remaining 3,354 cases ; viz., small-pox 84, scarlet fever 2,863, diphtheria 284, enteric fever 105, and "other
diseases" 18.
