PUERPERAL FEVER.
The returns show that 27 women were attacked with this disease
after childbirth. This number is 6 below the average of the six
years 1891-6, and 7 below the mean. The cases represent a rate of
2-74 per 1,000 registered births.
The fatality was 35.7 per cent., which is only slightly less than that of 1896, when it was 36 6 per cent.
