DEATHS FROM THE PRINCIPAL ZYMOTIC DISEASES.
There were 622 deaths, equal to a death-rate of 1.82 per 1,000, which
is the lowest rate known in the district for many years, or, at least, of
which there exists any reliable record.
After making allowance for the great increase of the population
these deaths are 170 below the average of the twelve years 1885—96.
This is particularly gratifying, as it shows that the labour of the
Vestry in its crusade against the Zymotic Diseases has not been in
vain.
