Thirty-ninth annual report on the health and sanitary condition of the Parish of St. Mary, Islington

At the end of this time the Sanitary Inspector will again visit the premises, and
if the necessary works have not then been completed, the Vestry, as the Sanitary
Authority for the Parish, will commence proceedings against you by the service of a
Statutory Notice.*

* Section II (I) of the Public Health (London) Act, 1891, enacts as follows:—"All reasonable costs
and expenses incurred in serving notice, making a complaint, or obtaining a nuisance order, or in carrying
the order into effect, shall be deemed to be money paid for the use and at the request of the person on
whom the order is made; or if no order is made, but the nuisance is proved to have existed
when the notice was served or the complaint made, then of the person by whose act, default, or sufference
the nuisance was caused; and in case of nuisances caused by the act or default of the owner of premises
such costs and expenses may be recovered from any person who is for the time being owner of such
premises."
If it become necessary through your default to serve a Statutory Notice, the cost incurred will be
three shillings, which will be recovered as provided above.
All communications respecting this Notice to bo addressed "The Medical Officer
of Health, Vestry Hall, Upper Street, N."
The Sanitary Inspectors attend at the Vestry Hall daily from 9 to 10 a.m., when
all enquiries respecting notices should be made.

1. The house or part of the house in a dirty condition.

4. The inlet of surface drain improperly trapped.
5. The water-closet so foul as to be a nuisance.

17. The yard in a condition injurious to health by reason of the want of proper paving
