MORTALITY IN THE SUB-REGISTRATION DISTRICTS.
The mortality in the sub-districts was equally satisfactory, and
in two of them especially so.
Thus, in Upper Holloway only 1,458 persons died, producing a
death-rate as low as 14.86. In Highbury the mortality was even proportionally
less, for, with 865 deaths, the death-rate was only 14.01.
In Islington South-west, which is the most populous as well as a
very densely crowded Sub-district, 1,859 deaths were registered, and
the death-rate was 17.34.
In Islington South-east, which is the most densely crowded Subdistrict,
the deaths numbered 1,081, which were equal to an annual
death-rate of 16.64.
Considering the density, as well as the character of the population,
of these two last-mentioned Sub-districts I am of opinion that their
death-rates are in the highest sense of the word satisfactory.

The following Table shows the number of persons, males and females, who died in each Sub-district, and also the several death-rates of such Sub-districts : — Table VII.
