for a prospective population of at least 170,000.

Assuming the proportion of males to females to be the same as
in 1896, there are 61,752 males and 68,968 females.
MARRIAGES AND MARRIAGE RATE.
1,153 marriages were solemnized in Fulham during the year,
compared with 916, 1,028. and 1,095 in the three previous years.
The marriage rate, i.e., persons married per 1,000 inhabitants, was
18.4, the rate for the Metropolis being 18,4, and that for England
and Wales 16,3.
BIRTHS AND BIRTH RATE.
The births registered during the year numbered 4,574, 2,350
males and 2,224 females.
There was one birth to every 28.3 inhabitants, and 100 births of
males to 94.7 females.
