SMALLPOX.
No case of Smallpox occurred in Fulham during the year,
though one person was reported as suffering from the disease, but
it was ascertained that an erroneous diagnosis had been made.
SCARLET FEVER.
Although there was a marked decline last year in this disease in
London, 16,917 cases being notified, compared with 22,850 in 1897,
this was not the case in Fulham, as 811 cases were notified against
759 in the preceding year, and the disease was proportionally more
prevalent than in any district in London.
640, or 79 per cent. of those suffering from the disease were
removed to the hospitals of the Managers of the Metropolitan
Asylums Board.
