From Table III, we see that the death-rate of London
proper amounted to 21.3, which "was 1.2 per thousand in
excess of the average rate in the previous five years, having
been raised considerably by the mortality from Diphtheria
and Influenza."
The death-rate of greater London with an estimated
population of 5,849,707, was 197, or rather higher than in
the preceding year, and exactly equal to the average of
the previous three years, but nearly 4.3 per thousand higher
than the death-rate of this parish.
