SPECIFIC FEBRILE OR ZYMOTIC DISEASES.
The total number of deaths from this group of diseases was 504,
a figure which represents about nineteen per cent, of the total
deaths from all causes. Of these deaths 385 were amongst young
children under five years of age, 119 of whom were infants.
THE SEVEN PRINCIPAL ZYMOTIC DISEASES.
The deaths referred to the orders Miasmatic and Diarrhœal (exclusive
of influenza) were 460, a decrease of 60 compared with 1893.
The decennial average of Zymotic deaths for the ten years 1884 to
1893 was 493 (see Table V.) The death rate from these seven
Zymotic diseases was 3.6, in 1893 it was 4.l. The corresponding
rates for London were 3.0 in 1893, and 26 in 1894.

. Of the total deaths from all causes, 17 per cent, were referred to
the group of diseases in the above table.
