Mr. Chairman and Gentlemen,
I have the pleasure of submitting my Eleventh
Annual Report on the state of the Public Health
within your Sanitary District.
The following statistics relate to a period of
fifty-two weeks, that ended on Saturday, the first
day of January, 1887.
The mortality from all causes was low, being
at the rate of 18.9 per thousand persons living.
This rate exceeded that of the previous year by
O.1, that year however, was an exceptionally
favourable one, the total number of deaths recorded
being fewer than in any year since 1867.
The deaths from diseases of the zymotic class
exceeded those of the previous year by 34, but were
70 below the decennial average.
